Conférence

-

01.17.2022

TSM is organising a conference on Greening finance to be given by Jean Boissinot, Deputy Director of Financial Stability at the Banque de France and Secretary General of the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) since 2021. The event will take place on Tuesday 25 February at 6 pm in Amphi V.

Registration is required and the conference is open to all TSM and UT1 students, lecturers, PhD students and alumni. The event is subject to compliance with the health protocol (compulsory wearing of a mask and presentation of a vaccination pass).

I register!

Banque de France will be recruiting quite massively in the next few years, up to 300 to 400 per year, mainly executives, and they are interested in our students' profiles.

Greening finance

Since 2015 and the COP 21, the financial sector has awaken to climate change and the challenges of the transition toward a net zero global economy. So much that, at the COP26 in Glasgow, the financial sector featured very visibly with the USD 1,300bn GFANZ initiative.

While climate change and ESG are becoming mainstream for financial institutions and as green is becoming a pervasive feature in their strategies and communication, concerns around greenwashing are voiced more loudly.

Against this background, the lecture will present market developments and the policy agenda initiated in 2015, review the rationale underpinning these developments and discuss what to expect (and what not to expect) from the greening of the financial system.

The speaker

Previously, Jean Boissinot was Senior Adviser to the Governors in charge of financial stability issues.

He held various positions at the Treasury Directorate General (Ministry of Finance), most recently as Director of Financial Stability (2017-2018), after having headed the financial sector economic analysis unit (2011- 2017) while also serving as Secretary General of the High Council for Financial Stability. He joined the Banque de France in 2018,

In these functions at the Ministry of Finance, he was responsible for the "private finance" agenda of the French Presidency of COP 21. During his career, he has also worked at HM Treasury and has been involved in many international groups (G20, FSB, OECD, etc.).

An alumnus of the Ecole Polytechnique, Ensae and PSE (Paris School of Economics), he is a Louis Bachelier Fellow and lecturer at Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne).
